Baseball Team Drops Extra-Inning Contest to All-Saints The Demons were down by 2 runs going into the final 6th inning when Ethan Olsen crushed a line shot to left field for a 2 run homerun to tie the game. In the 7th, A-S scored a run and Dedham came up short.
It was a terrific pitcher's duel early in the game with Mason Ellington on the mound for Dedham going 2 & 2/3 innings & not allowing a run. He struck out 8. Jake Monnier came on to pitch in the 3rd inning and went an inning and a third giving up 3 runs but struck out 2 batters. Ethan Olsen pitched the last 3 innings and also gave up 3 runs but looked great in the last 2 innings. He finished with 3 strikeouts.
Offensively for Dedham, Logan Butilier singled twice, stole 4 bases, and scored a run. He also had 2 putouts @ 2B late in the game to keep the Demons close.
Elliott Tankel was terrific behind the plate tagging out 2 runners at the plate for outs at crucial times during the game. He also singled twice, stole 4 bases, and scored on the Olsen homerun.
James England singled in the 6th inning but was stranded at 2nd base. He gunned down a runner at home late in the game from his shortstop position.
Jake Monnier was steady in the infield at 3B, singled, and scored.
Lyric Cogdell walked and stole 2 bases. Josh Begin singled and stole 2 bases.
Leo Saar walked. Michael Scholl made a nice play in RF and Gray Mattson had a nice defensive game in LF.
